ascendant and a conjunction of Neptune, Venus, and Murcury in Gemini in the 9th House.

Nesta, born at 3 41 A.M., has Pisces for the ascendant and a conjunction of Neptune and Venus in Gemini in the 3d House. Kathleen, born October 19, 1896, at about 2 P.M., has Aquarius rising and a trine of Neptune and the Sun.

Effie, born May 8, 1897, at noon, has Virgo rising, and a parallel of Neptune and Mercury in the 11th House, and Neptune in trine to the Moon.

It would be very interesting if further particulars of "paddlers" could be procured by your readers.

HERMES.

Here is another instance: the Editor calling one day upon a friend, saw her baby "paddle" across the floor, and remarked how dignified the motion was. Upon inquiry, she now finds he was born in New York City, June 2, 1895, at 10.57 A.M. This places the Sun in the 10th House in conjunction with Neptune; and Neptune is in trine to the Moon and parallel with the Sun, Jupiter, Mars, and Venus, making the baby a true Neptunite.

SENECA predicted the discovery of America in the following curious lines:

"Venient Annis

Sæcula seris, quibus Oceanus
Vincula rerum laxet, et ingens
Pateat tellus, Tiphysque novos
Detegat orbes; nec sit terris
Ulyma thule."

In years far hence a time will come in which the ocean will enlarge the borders of the known world, and an immense continent be revealed, and Tiphys discover new worlds, nor will the earth know any limit."

The Summer Solstice.

"With an unsteady pace

Bright Cancer rolls."

THE SUN ENTERS Cancer, JUNE 21, 1899, II A.M., AT WASHINGTON, D. C.

MERCRUY rules the figure at the summer solstice, with Mars close to the ascendant in good aspect with the Sun, who is well fortified in the mid-heaven, thus assuring stability to national affairs during the ensuing quarter, a just and aggressive foreign policy, notwithstanding which, our diplomatic relations conduce to perplexity. The tenure of a high official will be endangered toward the middle of September; there will be considerable agitation in the postal and telegraph systems, and a severe accident by rail is likely to occur about Aug. 30. A crop of scandals will attract attention towards the close of August. Some notable deaths will occur, one being that of a well-known statesman, and another a prominent individual in the world of art. Public buildings will be in danger of fire or collapse, and real estate interests will suffer. Bubble companies will be floated, and, unfortunately, will prosper for a time, at the expense of gullible enthusiasts in quest of easy fortunes. Women and children will suffer much in health during the quarter, and mortality will be augmented through bowel distempers and peculiar diseases of a febrile character, which will not altogether be successfully treated by the medical faculty. The influence of Uranus will be the irritating cause of the difficulty in the treatment, the physicians at the same time striving to check it too rapidly.

In the Middle States there will be explosions, damage to buildings, and many instances of incendiarism, particularly at 80° W. Strikes or labor demonstrations at 90° W., near Sept. 1. At Denver the sign Leo rises, and Venus is afflicted in the mid-heaven. Many annoyances will attend the better classes in that region, and some unpleasant disclosures will affect the social world. An amplified divorce calendar may be anticipated. Much unrest among the masses in the Western States,

and some startling calamity will happen to a building or a mine. The weather for the summer period will be exceptionally warm, with humid atmospheres, and wind-storms and destruction of property in the Middle and Western States.

June 21, 4 P.M.-At London the Moon is coming to the eastern horizon, in conjunction with Uranus, quadrature with Mars, the ruler of the figure, in elevation, and afflicted by an opposition from Venus. Saturn occupies the second mansion. This presignifies a very restless state of affairs for Great Britain, a bellicose tendency in the public mind, and a trying time for the peace authorities. authorities. A martial spirit pervades the governing factions, and serious international complications are quite probable. Court scandals will be in evidence. Many deaths among the titled class. The Sun in the house of death, and ruling the royal sign Leo on the mid-heaven, is significant. The Queen's natal sign is on the cusp of the eighth in the house of death, in this figure, while her horoscope is afflicted by some very evil transits before the close of this year.

At Madrid a very turbulent disposition rules the populace, and violent demonstrations on their part are to be feared. This unhappy government will have much turmoil to combat. December of the present year, Mars will accentuate the destructive reign of Saturn and Uranus in her ruling sign, Sagittarius. There will be clamorings and dissensions amongst her own people, a further loss of possessions, and friendless and alone she copes with the cumulative consequences of prolonged misrule.

Mars close to the meridian at Paris, having just culminated at Berlin, and, squaring the Moon, Uranus, and Venus from the equinoctial angles between longs. 8° and 30° E., portends a crisis in the European situation. The transit of Mars through Virgo is especially ominous of danger to the Turkish reign, and his affliction of Venus and the Moon threatens a revival of those hideous massacres and debaucheries of women and children which have so repeatedly obscured the light of Islam.

The movement of armies throughout Europe is not an improbability before the estival season shall have passed away.
