I OUR Lord is risen from the dead; 3 Loose all your bars of massy light, 4 Who is the King of glory-who? The Lord that all His foes o'ercame; The world, sin, death, and hell o'erthrew ; And Jesus is the Conqueror's name. 5 Lo, His triumphal chariot waits, And angels chant the solemn lay: Lift up your heads, ye heavenly gates! Ye everlasting doors, give way! 6 Who is the King of glory-who? The King of saints and angels too, 190 I I KNOW that my Redeemer lives; What comfort this sweet sentence gives! He lives, He lives, who once was dead, He lives all glorious in the sky; 3 He lives to bless me with His love; He lives to guide me with His eye; He lives to comfort me when faint; He lives to hear my soul's complaint. 5 He lives to silence all my fears; He lives to stoop and wipe my tears; He lives to calm my troubled heart; He lives all blessings to impart. 6 He lives, my kind, wise, heavenly Friend; He lives and loves me to the end; He lives, and while He lives I'll sing, He lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King. 7 He lives, and grants me daily breath; He lives, and I shall conquer death; He lives my mansion to prepare ; He lives to bring me safely there. 8 He lives, all glory to His Name; He lives, my Jesus, still the same; Oh, the sweet joy this sentence gives, I know that my Redeemer lives. Within the veil art entered now, To offer there Thy precious blood, Once poured on earth a cleansing flood. 5 And thence the Church, Thy chosen Bride, With countless gifts of grace supplied, Through all her members draws from Thee Her hidden life of sanctity. 6 O Christ, our Lord, of Thy dear care Thy lowly members heavenward bear; Be ours with Thee to suffer pain, With Thee for evermore to reign. 192 I HE lives! the great Redeemer lives! What joy the blest assurance gives! Let this dear hope repel the dart, That Jesus bears us on His heart. 4 Great Advocate, Almighty Friend! On Him our humble hopes depend; Our cause can never, never fail, For Jesus pleads, and must prevail. 193 I O CHRIST, Thou glorious King! we own 2 When rolling years brought on the day Foretold and fixed for this display, Our great deliverance to obtain, 3 At God's right hand now Thou art placed, And with Thy Father's glory graced, There to remain, till Thou shalt come As Judge to pass our final doom. 4 From day to day, O Lord, do we On high exalt and honor Thee; Thy name we worship and adore, World without end, for evermore. 1 OH for a shout of sacred joy To God, the sovereign King! Let every land their tongues employ, And hymns of triumph sing. 2 Jesus our God ascends on high; His heavenly guards around Attend Him rising through the sky, With trumpets' joyful sound. 3 While angels shout and praise their King, Let mortals learn their strains; Let all the earth His honors sing; O'er all the earth He reigns. 4 Rehearse His praise with awe profound, Let knowledge lead the song; Nor mock Him with a solemn sound Upon a thoughtless tongue. 5 Oh for a shout of sacred joy To God, the sovereign King! Let every land their tongues employ, And hymns of triumph sing. 195 I THE eternal gates lift up their heads, 2 Thou art gone in before us, Lord, Thou hast prepared a place, That we may be where now Thou art, And look upon Thy face. I ARISE, ye people, and adore, Exulting strike the chord! Let all the earth, from shore to shore, Confess the Almighty Lord! 2 Glad shouts aloud, wide echoing round, The ascending God proclaim; 3 They sing of death and hell o'erthrown 4 Oh shout, ye people, and adore ; Let all the earth, from shore to shore, HARWELL. 8s, 75 & 7. Fine. D. C. 198 I HARK! ten thousand harps and voices When we think of love like Thine, 3 King of glory, reign forever! Thine an everlasting crown ; Nothing from Thy love shall sever Those whom Thou hast made Thine own: Happy objects of Thy grace, 4 Saviour, hasten Thine appearing! 199 I ONE there is, above all others, His is love beyond a brother's, Costly, free, and knows no end: They who once His kindness prove, Find it everlasting love. 2 Which of all our friends, to save us, Could or would have shed his blood? But our Jesus died to have us Reconciled in Him to God: This was boundless love indeed ! Jesus is a Friend in need! 3 When He lived on earth abaséd, Friend of sinners was His name ; Now, above all glory raiséd, He rejoices in the same; Still He calls them brethren, friends, And to all their wants attends. 4 Could we bear from one another 5 Oh for grace our hearts to soften! Teach us, Lord, at length to love! We, alas! forget too often What a Friend we have above; But when home our souls are brought, We will love Thee as we ought. |
