SILVER STREET. S. M. 97 I AWAKE, and sing the song Wake, every heart and every tongue 2 Sing of His dying love; Sing of His rising power; 3 Sing till we feel our heart Ascending with our tongue; Ye ransomed sinners sing; In Christ the Eternal King. 5 Soon shall ye hear Him say, "Ye blessed children, come;" Soon will He call you hence away, And take His wanderers home. 98 I GRACE! 't is a charming sound, Harmonious to the ear! And all the earth shall hear. 2 Grace first contrived the way To save rebellious man ; And all the steps that grace display 3 Grace led my roving feet To tread the heavenly road; 4 Grace all the work shall crown, It lays in heaven the topmost stone, 99 I RAISE your triumphant songs Let the wide earth resound the deeds 2 Sing how Eternal Love Its chief Belovéd chose, And bade Him raise our wretched race 3 His hand no thunder bears, No terror clothes His brow, No bolts to drive our guilty souls 4 'Twas mercy filled the throne, To rebels doomed to die. I PLUNGED in a gulf of dark despair, 2 With pitying eyes the Prince of grace Beheld our helpless grief; He saw, and-oh, amazing love!-- 3 Down from the shining seats above, 4 Oh, for this love let rocks and hills Their lasting silence break; 5 Angels, assist our mighty joys; Strike all your harps of gold; But when you raise your highest notes, 3 To him Thou hourly deign'st to give New mercies from on high; Didst quit Thy throne with him to live, 4 Close to Thine own bright seraphim I O LORD, how good, how great art Thou, 4 He comes, the broken heart to bind, In heaven and earth the same! There angels at Thy footstool bow, Here babes Thy grace proclaim. 2 When glorious in the nightly sky Thy moon and stars I see, The bleeding soul to cure, And, with the treasures of His grace, Enrich the humble poor. 5 Our glad hosannas, Prince of Peace, 3 No more let sin and sorrow grow, Nor thorns infest the ground; He comes to make His blessings flow 6 With joy the chorus we repeat,— Far as the curse is found. 4 He rules the world with truth and grace, And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness, And wonders of His love. 105 I MORTALS, awake, with angels join 2 In heaven the rapturous song began, And strung and tuned the lyre. "Glory to God on high! Good-will and peace are now complete ; Jesus is born to die!" 106 I THEN shone almighty Power and Love 2 Adoring angels tuned their songs With rapture then let mortal tongues Their grateful worship pay. 3 Hail, Prince of life, forever hail! Redeemer, Brother, Friend! Tho' earth, and time, and life should fail, Thy praise shall never end. |
