Psalm 126. 1 Yes, we trust the day is breaking ; i He that goeth forth with weeping, Joyful times are near at hand;
Bearing still the precious seed,
All his labor shall succeed:
Then will fall the rain of heaven, Darkness flies at His command.
Then the sun of mercy shine ;
Precious fruits will then be given, 2 Let us hail the joyful season ;
Through an influence all divine. Let us hail the dawning ray; When the Lord appears, there's reason
1 2 Sow thy seed, be never weary,
Nor let fears thy mind employ;
Be the prospect ne'er so dreary,
Thou shalt reap the fruits of joy: Gloom and darkness flee away.
Lo! the scene of verdure brightening, 3 While the foe becomes more daring, See the rising grain appear; While he enters like a flood,
Look again, the fields are whitening : God, the Saviour, is preparing,
Sure the harvest-time is near.
PRAISE the God of all creation;
Praise the Father's boundless love; 4 God of Jacob, high and glorious, Praise the Lamb, our expiation, Let Thy people see Thy hand!
Priest and King enthroned above: Let the gospel be victorious
Praise the Fountain of salvation, Through the world, in every land; Him by whom our spirits live; And the idols
Undivided adoration Perish, Lord, at Thy command !
To the one Jehovah give.
1741 1 HARK! the song of Jubilee,
I COME! Desire of nations, come! Loud as mighty thunders roar, Hasten, Lord, the general doom ; Or the fulness of the sea,
Hear the Spirit and the Bride ; When it breaks upon the shore ! Come, and take us to Thy side: Hallelujah! for the Lord
Thou, who hast our place prepared, God Omnipotent shall reign :
Make us meet for our reward ; Hallelujah! let the word
Then, with all Thy saints descend; Echo round the earth and main. Then, our earthly trials end. 2 Hallelujah! hark! the sound,
2 Mindful of Thy chosen race, From the centre to the skies,
Shorten these vindictive days ; Wakes above, beneath, around,
Hear us now, and save Thine own, All creation's harmonies.
Who for full redemption groan: See Jehovah's banner furled,
Now destroy the Man of Sin, Sheathed His sword, He speaks
Now Thine ancient flock bring in, 't is done ;
Filled with righteousness divine ; And the kingdoms of this world
Claim a ransomed world for Thine ! Are the kingdoms of His Son. 3 He shall reign from pole to pole, 3 Plant Thy heavenly kingdom here; With illimitable sway;
Glorious in Thy saints appear; He shall reign, when like a scroll Speak the sacred number sealed,
Yonder heavens have passed away; Speak the mystery revealed : Then the end; beneath His rod
Take to Thee Thy royal power; Man's last enemy shall fall :
Reign! when sin shall be no more; Hallelujah! Christ in God,
Reign! when death no more shall be ; God in Christ, is All in All. i Reign to all eternity!
1 WATCHMAN, tell us of the night, Watchman, will its beams alone What its signs of promise are !
Gild the spot that gave them birth? Traveller, o'er yon mountain's height Traveller, ages are its own; See that glory-beaming star!
See, it bursts o'er all the earth. Watchman, does its beauteous ray
Aught of joy or hope foretell ? 13 Watchman, tell us of the night, Traveller, yes; it brings the day,
For the morning seems to dawn! Promised day of Israel.
Traveller, darkness takes its flight,
Doubt and terror are withdrawn: 2 Watchman, tell us of the night ; Watchman, let thy wanderings cease ; Higher yet that star ascends !
Hie thee to thy quiet home! Traveller, blessedness and light,
Traveller, lo! the Prince of Peace, Peace and truth its course portends! || Lo! the Son of God is come !
Song of Simeon
Hail the light of Jacob's Star,
Waiting till the promised ray
Turn their darkness into day.
And the realms of distant kings
Own the healing of Thy wings! 2 Since at length my weary eye
See the beams, intensely shed, Sees the Day-Spring from on high! Shine on Zion's favored head ! Those whom death had overspread Never may they hence remove, With his dark and dreary shade, God of truth, and God of love!
A few more partings o'er,
And we shall weep no more: Then, O my Lord, prepare
Then, O my Lord, prepare My soul for that great day;
My soul for that blest day; Oh, wash me in Thy precious blood, Oh, wash me in Thy precious blood, And take my sins away!
And take my sins away! 2 A few more storms shall beat
'Tis but a little while On this wild, rocky shore;
And He shall come again, And we shall be where tempests cease, Who died that we might live, who lives And surges swell no more:
That we with Him may reign: Then, O my Lord, prepare
Then, O my Lord, prepare My soul for that calm day;
My soul for that glad day; Oh, wash me in Thy precious blood, Oh, wash me in Thy precious blood, And take my sins away!
And take my sins away!
