And love the souls whom Thou dost love: i Come, Holy Ghost, our souls inspire,
4 To love and pray, and never faint, And lighten with celestial fire ;
By day and night strict guard to keep; Thou the Anointing Spirit art,

Who long to feel Thy perfect reign, 1 0 Spirit of the living God,
And share Thy kingdom's happiness ! In all Thy plenitude of grace, Where'er the foot of man hath trod,

The prophet went to clear Thy way, Descend on our apostate race !
A harbinger Thy feet before, 2 Give tongues of fire and hearts of love A dawning to Thy brighter day: To preach the reconciling word ;
4 So now may grace, with heavenly Give power and unction from above,
shower, Whene'er the joyful sound is heard.
Our stony hearts for truth prepare; 3 Be darkness, at Thy coming, light; Sow in our souls the seed of power, Confusion, order in Thy path;

Who spreads His triumphs wide; And march, Almighty Lord,
While Jesus' fragrant name To wage Thy holy war:
Is breathed from every side : Before His wheels, in glad surprise, Balmy and rich the odors rise,
Ye valleys, rise, and sink, ye hills ! And fill the earth and reach the skies. 2 Before Thine awful face

That brings salvation nigh; And all Thy power display:
They turn their face away, My heart, Thy throne, blest Jesus, see,
And faint, and fall, and die : Bows low to Thee, to Thee alone.
So sad a doom, ye saints, deplore;
For oh, they fall to rise no more ! DOXOLOGY. To God the Father, Son,
4 Yet, wise and mighty God, And Spirit ever blest,
Shall all Thy servants be, Eternal Three in One,
In those who live and die, All worship be addressed :
A savor sweet to Thee: As heretofore it was, is now,
Supremely bright Thy grace shall shine, And shall be so for evermore!
Guarded with flames of wrath divine.
1699 1 How beauteous are their feet
1 O God of sovereign grace, Who stand on Zion's hill,
We bow before Thy throne, Who bring salvation on their tongues,
And plead, for all the human race, And words of peace reveal !
The merits of Thy Son.

And make the broad earth thine ; Jerusalem breaks forth in songs,
Stretch o'er her lands and isles the rod And deserts learn the joy.
That flowers with grace divine. 6 The Lord makes bare His arm
4 Soon may all tribes be blest Through all the earth abroad;
With fruit from life's glad tree; Let every nation now behold
And in its shade like brothers rest, Their Saviour and their God !
Sons of one family.
