636 i OH, sweetly breathe the lyres above, When angels touch the quivering string, And wake, to chant Immanuel's love, Such strains as angel-lips can sing ! 2 And sweet on earth the choral swell, From mortal tongues, of gladsome lays, And, grateful, hymn Immanuel's praise. 3 Jesus, Thy name our souls adore; We own the bond that makes us Thine; For Thy dear sake we now resign. 4 Our hearts, by dying love subdued, Accept Thine offered grace to-day; We bow and give ourselves away. 5 In Thee we trust, on Thee rely; Though we are feeble, Thou art strong; To join the bright, immortal throng! 637 i Come, ever-blesséd Spirit, come, And make Thy servants' hearts Thy home; May each a living temple be. With sevenfold gifts of grace divine ; bless, 3 Arm these, Thy youthful soldiers, Lord, With shield of faith and Spirit's sword; Forth to the battle may they go, And boldly fight against the foe. Oh may they overcome the world ; The palm and crown of victory. 5 O Trinity in Unity, One only God and Persons Three I we live, That we may see Thy glorious Face; And ever, with the heavenly host, Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. 638 1 While in the hours of blooming youth, My God, I've felt and owned Thy truth; Thy mercies, with increasing age, Shall still my grateful heart engage. 2 No human power shall e'er control This settled purpose of my soul ; But where Thy wisdom points the way. 3 To Thee, O Lord, myself I give; 'Tis to Thy glory I would live : My God, my Strength, my Hope, my Joy, Thy praise shall all my powers employ. 639 Before the Lord we speak; A vow we dare not break : Ourselves to Christ we yield; Nor ever quit the field. But on His grace rely; All needful aid supply. And keep us in Thy ways; Turn Thou our prayers to praise. This day, with one accord, Ourselves, with humble faith and joy, We yield to Thee, O Lord ! One inward life partake; In every bosom wake. One wisdom be our guide ; Taught by one Spirit from above, In Thee may we abide. 4 Then, when among the saints in light Our joyful spirits shine, O Lamb of God, be Thine ! 641 I OPPRESSED with noon-day's scorching heat, No shade like this for me! 2 Beneath that cross clear waters burst, A fountain sparkling free ; No spring like this for me! Beneath this spreading tree; No home like this for me! Beside that cross I see ; No rest like this for me! DOXOLOGY. To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, The God whom we adore ; Be glory, as it was, is now, And shall be evermore. 642 3 'Tis done the great transaction's done! i LORD, I am Thine, entirely Thine, I am my Lord's, and He is mine; He drew me, and I followed on, Glad to obey the voice divine. 4 Now rest, my long divided heart, Fixed on this blissful centre, rest; 2 Grant one poor sinner more a place With ashes who would grudge to part, Among the children of Thy grace; A wretched sinner, lost to God, When called on angels' bread to feast ! But ransomed by Immanuel's blood. 5 High Heaven, that heard the solemn vow, 3 Thine would I live, Thine would I die, That vow renewed shall daily hear, Be Thine through all eternity; Till in life's latest hour I bow, The vow is passed beyond repeal ; And bless in death a bond so dear. And now I set the solemn seal. 4 Here at that cross where flows the 644 blood 1 Who can describe the joys that rise That bought my guilty soul for God, Through all the courts of paradise, Thee, my new Master now I call, To see a prodigal return, And consecrate to Thee my all. To see an heir of glory born! 5 Do Thou assist a feeble worm 2 With joy the Father doth approve The great engagement to perform ; The fruit of His eternal love; And on that grace I dare depend. The purchase of His agonies. 643 3 The Spirit takes delight to view The holy soul He formed anew; 1 O HAPPY day, that stays my choice And saints and angels join to sing On Thee, my Saviour and my God! The growing empire of their King. Well may this glowing heart rejoice, And tell its raptures all abroad. DOXOLOGY. 2 0 happy bond, that seals my vows Now to the Father, and the Son To Him who merits all my love! Who rose from death, be glory given, Let cheerful anthems fill His house, With Thee, O Holy Comforter, While to that sacred shrine I move. Henceforth, by all in earth and heaven. 645 And owns the grateful tie; To feel a friend is nigh: The gratitude we owe Our more than orphan's woe ! 3 While yet His anguished soul surveyed Those pangs He would not flee, What love His latest words displayed, .“ Meet and remember Me!” 4 Remember Thee! Thy death, Thy shame, But His recorded there ! In meek humility, I will remember Thee. My bread from heaven shall be ; And thus remember Thee. 3 Gethsemane can I forget? Or there Thy conflict see, And not remember Thee ? 4 When to the cross I turn mine eyes, And rest on Calvary, O Lamb of God, my Sacrifice ! I must remember Thee. And all Thy love to me! Will I remember Thee. 6 And when these failing lips grow dumb, And mind and memory flee, Jesus, remember me ! With Christ within the doors, The choicest of her stores ! 2 While all our hearts, and all our songs, Join to admire the feast, “Lord, why was I a guest ?”. 3. “Why was I made to hear Thy voice, And enter while there's room, choice, And rather starve than come?". 4 'T was the same love that spread the feast, And perished in our sin. Constrain the earth to come ; And bring the strangers home. |
