1584 1 SAFELY through another week

i Light of life, seraphic Fire ; God has brought us on our way; Love divine, Thyself impart : Let us now a blessing seek,

Every fainting soul inspire; Waiting in His courts to-day;

Shine in every drooping heart. Day of all the week the best,

2 Every mournful sinner cheer, Emblem of eternal rest.

Scatter all our guilty gloom; 2 While we pray for pardoning grace Son of God, appear, appear!

Through the dear Redeemer's Name, To Thy human temples come ! Show Thy reconciled face,

13 Come, in this accepted hour, Take away our sin and shame;

Bring Thy heavenly kingdom in ; From our worldly cares set free,

Fill us with the glorious power, May we rest this day in Thee.

· Rooting out the seeds of sin. 3. Here we come Thy Name to praise; la Nothing more can we require. Let us feel Thy presence near;

We will covet nothing less : May Thy glory meet our eyes

Be Thou all our heart's desire, While we in Thy house appear:

All our joy, and all our peace! Here afford us, Lord, a taste Of our everlasting feast.

DOXOLOGY. 4 May Thy gospel's joyful sound

PRAISE the Name of God most high, Conquer sinners, comfort saints; Praise Him, all below the sky, Make the fruits of grace abound; Praise Him, all ye heavenly host,

Bring relief for all complaints: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost ! Thus let all our Sabbaths prove

As through countless ages past, Till we rest in Thee above.

Evermore His praise shall last.

1 Light of Light, enlighten me! 14 Let me with my heart to-day, Now anew the day is dawning;

Holy, Holy, Holy, singing, Sun of grace, the shadows flee,

Rapt awhile from earth away, Brighten Thou my Sabbath morning! All my soul to Thee up-springing, With Thy joyous sunshine blest,

Have a foretaste inly given, Happy is my day of rest.

How they worship Thee in heaven.

2 Fount of all our joy and peace, 5 Rest in me and I in Thee, To Thy living waters lead me;

Build a paradise within me ; Thou from earth my soul release, Oh reveal Thyself to me,

And with grace and mercy feed me; 1 Blesséd Love, who died'st to win me: Bless Thy Word that it may prove Fed from Thine exhaustless urn, Rich in fruits that Thou dost love. Pure and bright my lamp shall burn.

3 Kindle Thou the sacrifice

That upon my lips is lying ;
Clear the shadows from mine eyes,

That, from every error flying,
No strange fire may in me glow
That Thine altar doth not know.

6 Hence all care, all vanity,

For the day to God is holy:
Come, Thou glorious Majesty,

Deign to fill this temple lowly;
Nought to-day my soul shall move,
Simply resting in Thy love.

Psalm 84.

15 To spend one sacred day I LORD of the worlds above,

Where God and saints abide,
How pleasant and how fair

Affords diviner joy
The dwellings of Thy love,

Than thousand days beside:
Thine earthly temples are !

Where God resorts, I love it more
To Thine abode my heart aspires,

To keep the door, than shine in courts. With warm desires to see my God. 587 Psalm 150. 2 The sparrow for her young

1 In Zion's sacred gates With pleasure seeks a nest,

Let hymns of praise begin, And wandering swallows long | Where acts of faith and love To find their wonted rest:

With ceaseless beauty shine: My spirit faints with equal zeal

In mercy there while God is known, To rise and dwell among Thy saints. Before His throne with songs appear. 3 Oh happy souls that pray

2 His wondrous acts demand, Where God appoints to hear !

His wisdom and His grace,
Oh happy men that pay

The labors of our hands,
Their constant service there!

And transports of our praise :
They praise Thee still, and happy they | Rehearse His name to every shore,
That love the way to Zion's hill. Where'er His power His works proclaim.
4. They go from strength to strength, 13 Let the trump's martial voice,
Through this dark vale of tears;

The timbrel's softer sound,
Till each arrives at length;

The organ's solemn peal,
Till each in heaven appears :

United praise resound :
Oh glorious seat, when God our King To swell the song with highest joy,
Shall thither bring our willing feet! | Let man employ his tuneful tongue.

Psalm 43.
1 Now to Thy sacred house

I come with willing feet,
Where saints, with morning vows,

In full assembly meet :
Thy power divine shall there be shown,
And from Thy throne Thy mercy shine.
2 Oh send Thy light abroad !

Thy truth with heavenly ray
Shall lead my soul to God,

And guide my doubtsul way:
I'll hear Thy word with faith sincere,
And learn to fear and praise the Lord.
3 There reach Thy bounteous hand,

And all my sorrows heal ;
There health and strength divine,

Oh make my bosom feel:
Like balmy dew, shall Jesus' voice
My bones rejoice, my strength renew.
4 Then in Thy holy hill,

Before Thine altar, Lord, My harp and song shall sound

The glories of Thy word : Henceforth to Thee, O God of grace, A hymn of praise my life shall be.

589
I WELCOME, delightful morn,

Thou day of sacred rest;
I hail thy kind return;

Lord, make these moments blest!
From the low train of mortal toys
I soar to reach immortal joys.
2 Now may the King descend

And fill His throne of grace ;
Thy sceptre, Lord, extend,

While saints address Thy face: | Let sinners feel Thy quickening word, And learn to know and fear the Lord. 3 Descend, celestial Dove,

With all Thy quickening powers; Disclose a Saviour's love,

And bless the sacred hours:
Then shall my soul new life obtain,
Nor Sabbaths be indulged in vain.

DOXOLOGY.
To God the Father, Son,

And Spirit ever blest,
Eternal Three in One,

All worship be addrest :
As heretofore it was, is now,
And shall be so, for evermore!

1 To Thy temple I repair ;

Lord, I love to worship there,
When within the veil I meet

Christ before the mercy-seat. 2 Thou, through Him, art reconciled;

I, through Him, became Thy child ;
Abba, Father ! give me grace

In Thy courts to seek Thy face! 3 While Thy glorious praise is sung,

Touch my lips, unloose my tongue,
That my joyful soul may bless

Thee, the Lord my Righteousness! 4 While the prayers of saints ascend,

God of love, to mine attend ;
Hear me, for Thy Spirit pleads;

Hear, for Jesus intercedes!
5 While I hearken to Thy law,

Fill my soul with humble awe;
Till Thy Gospel bring to me
Life and immortality.
6 While Thy ministers proclaim

Peace and pardon in Thy Name,
Through their voice, by faith, may I

Hear Thee speaking from the sky.
y From Thy house when I return,
May my heart within me burn;
And at evening let me say,
I have walked with God to-day!

591
i LORD, we come before Thee now

At Thy feet we humbly bow;
Oh, do not our suit disdain ;

Shall we seek Thee, Lord, in vain? 2 Lord, on Thee our souls depend;

In compassion now descend ;
Fill our hearts with Thy rich grace,

Tune our lips to sing Thy praise. 3 In Thine own appointed way

Now we seek Thee, here we stay;
Lord, we know not how to go

Till a blessing Thou bestow. 4 Comfort Those who weep and mourn,

Let the time of joy return;
Those that are cast down, lift up,

Make them strong in faith and hope. 5 Grant that all may seek and find

Thee a God supremely kind ;
Heal the sick, the captive free,

Let us all rejoice in Thee.
592
i LORD, we come to-day to Thee
With the voice of melody;
Let our chant's sweet note arise

Upward to the listening skies. 2 Lord, with suppliant voice we pray,

Bring us all who meet to-day
To possess the crown of light,
To put on the robe of white.
