3 Dear Name ! the Rock on which I build, 1 With joy we meditate the grace

My Shield and Hiding-place, Of our High-Priest above ;

My never-failing Treasury, filled His heart is made of tenderness,

With boundless stores of grace ! His bosom glows with love.

4 By Thee, my prayers acceptance gain, 2 Touched with a sympathy within,

Although with sin defiled ; He knows our feeble frame;

Satan accuses me in vain, He knows what sore temptations mean, And I am owned a child. For He hath felt the same.

5 Jesus ! my Shepherd, Husband, Friend, 3 But spotless, innocent, and pure,

My Prophet, Priest, and King ; The great Redeemer stood ;

My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End, While Satan's fiery darts He bore,

Accept the praise I bring. And did resist to blood.

6 Weak is the effort of my heart, 4 He, in the days of feeble flesh,

And cold my warmest thought;
Poured out His cries and tears;

But when I see Thee as Thou art, And in His measure feels afresh

I'll praise Thee as I ought. What every member bears.

7 Till then I would Thy love proclaim 5 Then let our humble faith address

With every fleeting breatha ; His mercy and his power;

And may the music of Thy name We shall obtain delivering grace

Refresh my soul in death. In the distressing hour. 221

222 1 How sweet the name of Jesus sounds 1 () HELP us Lord, each hour of need In a believer's ear!

Thy heavenly succor give; It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds, Help us in thought, and word, and deed, And drives away his fear.

Each hour on earth we live. 2 It makes the wounded spirit whole, 2 O help us, Jesus, from on high, And calms the troubled breast;

We know no help but Thee ; 'Tis manna to the hungry soul,

O help us so to live and die And to the weary, rest.

As Thine in heaven to be.
