Among the “ Jowellis, Plenislingis, Artaillierie and Munitioun being within the castell of Edinburgh, pertening to our Soverane Lord and his hienes derrest Moder," and delivered in Inventory to the King at Stirling Castle in March 1578, framed by Commissioners appointed by his Majesty for receiving the same, there is the following scanty but not incurious lift of Books saved from the general wreck of what had been the Royal Library of Scotland in the reign of Queen Mary.
