EXTRACT FROM THE LAWS OF MASSACHUSETTS.-Whoever wilfully and maliciously or wantonly and without cause writes upon, injures, defaces, tears, or destroys a book, plate, picture, engraving, or statue belonging to a law, town, city, or other public library, shall be punished by a fine of not less than five, nor more than fifty dollars, or by imprisonment in the jail not exceeding six months.

This book can be kept Two Weeks. When returned to be handed to the Librarian. Books to be retaken must be returned to the Library.

FINES for retaining beyond the allowed period, one cent a day. For injury or loss the actual damage sustained.
