The Gospel. St. John iv. 46.

THERE was a certain nobleman. whose son was sick at Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him, that he would come down and heal his son; for he was at the Joint o: death. Then said Jesus unto Fim, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. The nobleman saith into him, Sir, come down ere my child die. Jesus saith unto him. Go thy way, thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. And as he was now going down. his servants met Lim, and told him, saying. Thy son liveth Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend; and they said unto him. Yesterday, at the seventh hour, the fever left him. So the father knew that it was at the same hour in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liv. eth and himself believed, and his whole nouse. This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judea into Galilee.

The Gospel. St. Matt. xviii. 21. PETER said unto Jesus, Lord, how

oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not into thee, until seven times: but until seventy times seven. Therefore is the kingdom of hea ven likened unto a certaui king, who would take account of his servants. Ant when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, who owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down and wor.

shipped him, saying. Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Then the lord of that servant was noved with compassion, and loosed him, and for. gave him the debt. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fel low-servants, who owed him an hundred pence; and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellow-servant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not; but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So when his fellow-servants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Then his

The Gospel. St. Matt xxii. 15. THEN went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk. And they sent out unto him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men. Tell us, therefore, what thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Casar, or not ? But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said. Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? Show me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say unto him, Cæsar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which are Cæsar's ; and unto God the things that are God's When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.

The Gospel. St. Matt. ix. 18. W WHILE Jesus spake these things unto John's disciples, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worship ped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead, but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples. (And behold, a woman which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him. and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole, But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort, thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole

from that hour.) And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, he said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. And the fame hereof went abroad

praying always for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints; for the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the Gospel; which is come unto you, as it is in all the world, and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth. As ye also learned of Epaphras, our dear fellow-servant, who is for you a faithful ininister of Christ; who also declared unto us your love in the spirit. For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that ye night walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge

In his days, Judah shall be saved, and Is rael shall dwell safely and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that they shall no more say, The Lord liveth, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; but, The Lord liveth, whe brought up, and who led the seed of the

house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither 1 had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.

shall we buy bread, that these may eat? (and this he said to prove him; for he himself knew what he would do.) Philip answered him. Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Pcter's brother, saith unto him, There is a lad here, who hath five barley-loaves, and two small fishes; but what are they among so many? And Jesus said. Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place So the men sat down, in number abou. five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks. he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down, and likewise of the fishes, as much as they would. When they were filled, he said anto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barleyloaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said. This is of a truth that Prophet that should come into the world.

The Epistle. Rom. 1. 9.

IF thou shale confend what believe in TF thou shalt confess with thy mouth

thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness. and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no differ ence between the Jew and the Greek for the same Lord over all, is rich unto al that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?

and how shal they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the Gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the Gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world. But I say, Did not Israel know? First, Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you. But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me. But to Israel he saith, All day long nave I stretched forth my hands unto a diso. bedient and gainsaying people.

The Gospel. St. Matt. iv. 18. JESUS, walking by the sea of Galilee,

saw two brethren, Simon, called Pete, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: (for they were fishers.) And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you tishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and fol lowed him. And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mend ing their nets; and he called them. And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

HAT which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled of the word of life; (for the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us :) that which we have seen and heard, declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Sn Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fel lowship one with another. and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteous. ness. Then Peter turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved, following, (which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?) Peter seeing him, saith 10 Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that be tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me Then went this say. ng abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die: but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things, and we know that his testimony is true. And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.
