All Nations exhorted to Adoration and Praise. 1 WITH one consent, let all the earth To God their cheerful voices raise;

Glad homage pay, with hallowed mirth,
And sing before him songs of praise;
2 Assured that he is God alone, [ceed,-1
From whom both we and all pro-
We, whom he chooses for his own,
The flock which he delights to feed.
3 O, enter, then, his temple gate;

Thence to his courts devoutly press;
And still your grateful hymns repeat,
And still his name with praises bless;
4 For he's the Lord, supremely good;
His mercy is forever sure;
His truth, which always firmly stood,
To endless ages shall endure.

4 From day to day, O Lord, do we
Highly exalt and honor thee:
Thy name we worship and adore,
World without end, for evermore.

WATTS.

The Brightness of God's Glory.
Now to the Lord a noble song!
Awake, my soul! awake, my tongue!
Hosanna to th' eternal name,
And all his boundless love proclaim.
The spacious earth and spreading flood
Proclaim the wise, the powerful God,
And thy rich glories from afar
Sparkle in every rolling star;

But in the gospel of thy Son

Are all thy mightiest works outdone;
The light it pours upon our eyes
Outshines the wonders of the skies.

4 Our spirits kindle in its beam;
It is a sweet, a glorious theme:
Ye angels, dwell upon the sound;
Ye heavens, reflect it to the ground.

For Sincerity in Worship. 1 LORD! when we bend before thy throne, And our confessions pour,

O may we feel the sins we own,

And hate what we deplore.

2 Our contrite spirits pitying see;
True penitence impart;
And let a healing ray from thee
Beam hope on every heart.

3 When we disclose our wants in prayer, O let our wills resign;

And not a thought our bosom share,
Which is not wholly thine.

4 Then, on thy glories while we dwell,
Thy mercies we 'll review;
With love divine transported, tell,-
"Thou, God, art Father too!"

1 WITH sacred joy we lift our eyes
To those bright realms above,-
That glorious temple in the skies
Where dwells eternal love.

2 Thee we adore, and, Lord, to thee
Our filial duty pay;

Thy service, unconstrained and free,
Conducts to endless day.

3 While in thy house of prayer we kneel
With trust and holy fear,
Thy mercy and thy truth reveal,
And lend a gracious ear.

Pure Worship.

13 O for a strong, a lasting faith,
To credit what th' Almighty saith!
To hear the message of his Son,
And call the joys of heaven our own!
Then, should the earth's firm pillars shake,
And all the wheels of nature break,
Our steady souls would fear no more
Than solid rocks when billows roar.

1 WHEN, wakened by thy voice of power,
The hour of morning beams in light,
My voice shall sing that morning hour, 4
And thee, who mad'st that hour so bright.
2 The morning strengthens into noon;

Earth's fairest beauties shine more

And noon and morning shall attune [fair, My grateful heart to praise and prayer. 3 When 'neath the evening's western gate The sun's retiring rays are hid, My joy shall be to meditate, E'en as the pious patriarch did. 4 As twilight wears a darker hue,

And gathering night creation dims,
The twilight and the midnight, too,
Shall have their harmonies and hymns.
5 So shall sweet thoughts, and thoughts 3
My constant inspirations be; [sublime,
And every shifting scene of time
Reflect, my God, a light from thee.

KEBLE.

"Abide with us, for it is towards Evening, and the
Day is far spent."

"T is gone, that bright and orbéd blaze,
Fast fading from our wistful gaze;
Yon mantling cloud has hid from sight
The last faint pulse of quivering light.
Sun of my soul! thou Saviour dear,
It is not night if thou be near:
O may no earth-born cloud arise
To hide thee from thy servant's eyes.
Abide with me from morn till eve,
For without thee I cannot live;
Abide with me when night is nigh,
For without thee I dare not die.

1 HAIL! Source of light, of life, and love, 1 GOD of the sunlight hours, how sad And joys that never end;

In whom all creatures live and move;
Creator, Father, Friend.

Would evening shadows be!

Or night, in deeper shadows clad,
If aught were dark to thee!

2 All space is with thy presence crowned; 2 How mournfully that golden gleam

Creation owns thy care;

Each spot in nature's ample round,
Proclaims that God is there.

3 Attuned to praise be every voice;
Let not one heart be sad;
Jehovah reigns! Let earth rejoice;
Let all the isles be glad.

Would touch the thoughtful heart, If, with its soft, retiring beam,

We saw thy light depart!

3 Enough, while these dull heavens may lower,
If here thy presence be;

Then midnight shall be morning hour,
And darkness light to me.

4 Then sound the anthem loud and long, 126
In sweetest, loftiest strains;
And be the burden of the song,
The Lord, Jehovah, reigns!

Evening Prayer.

ANON.

SPIRIT OF THE PSALMS.

God the only Object of Worship.
1 O GOD, our strength! to thee the song,
With grateful hearts we raise;
To thee, and thee alone, belong
All worship, love, and praise.

1 THOU Lord of life! whose tender care 2 In trouble's dark and stormy hour

Hath led us on till now,

We, in this quiet hour of prayer,

Before thy presence bow.

2 Thou, blessed God! hast been our Guide,
Through life our Guard and Friend;

Oh, still on life's uncertain tide,
Preserve us to the end.

3 To thee our grateful praise we bring
For mercies day by day:
Lord, teach our hearts thy love to sing,
Lord, teach us how to pray!

3

4

Thine ear hath heard our prayer; And graciously thine arm of power Hath saved us from despair.
