9: LISCHER. H. M. Arr. by Dr. MASON. 9:2 29 HAYWARD. Invocation for Lord's Day Morning. 1 WELCOME, delightful morn, Thou day of sacred rest! We hail thy glad return: Lord, make these moments blest. From low delights and mortal toys We soar to reach immortal joys. 2 Now may the King descend, While we address thy face. 3 Descend, celestial Dove, With all thy quickening powers; Disclose a Saviour's love, And bless these sacred hours; Then shall our souls new life obtain, Nor Sabbaths be enjoyed in vain. 30 The Seasons. 1 LORD of the worlds below, 2 Forth in the flowery spring, The birds on branches sing 3 Then come, in robes of light, 4 In autumn, a rich feast Thy common bounty gives And every thing that lives. 5 In winter, awful thou, With storms around thee cast: Beneath thy northern blast. While tempests lower, to thee, dread King, FREEMAN. We homage bring, and own thy power. 9: 9:2 BERA. L. M. ROOT & SWEETSER'S COLL. 32 NEW YORK COLL. 34 Sabbath Day. 1 WE bless thee for this sacred day, Thou who hast every blessing given, Which sends the dreams of earth away, And yields a glimpse of opening heaven. 2 Lord, in this day of holy rest, 1 2 We would improve the calm repose; And, in thy service truly blest, Forget the world, its joys and woes. 3 Lord! may thy truth, upon the heart Now fall and dwell as heavenly dew, 3 And flowers of grace in freshness start Where once the weeds of error grew. 4 May Prayer now lift her sacred wings, Contented with that aim alone Which bears her to the King of kings, And rests her at his sheltering throne.
