Exp and the Total Expenditure to 57,520£. 5s. Id. ture.

Explanation of the causes of variation between Expenditure and Grant. C. —This saving arises from a casual variation between Estimate and Actual Deficiency.

The Surplus of 9851. 12s. 4rf. shown on the account of the Vote "Savings Banks and Friendly Societies Deficiency " for the year ended 31st March 1904, has been surrendered.

The Expenditure represents, under Sub-Heads A. and B., the amounts of the Nature of deficiencies on the Income Accounts of the Funds for Trustee Savings Banks and ExPendltureFriendly Societies respectively for the year ended 20 November 1904, and, under Sub-Head C., the amount of the deficiency on the Income Account of the Post Office

Savings Bank Fund for the year ended*31 December 1904, as shown in Parliamentary Paper 216/1905 prepared pursuant to Acts 40 Viet., c. 13, s. 17, and 54 and 55 Viet., c. 21, s. 15.
