ACCOUNT of the Sum Expended, compared with the Sum Granted, to defray the Expenses of Royal Parks and Pleasure Gardens, in the Year ended 31st March 1906, showing the Surplus or Deficit upon each Sub-Head of the Vote.
Explanation of the Causes of Variation between Expenditure and Grant
A.—Saving due to the death of the late Superintendent under the Ranger of St. James's, &c., Parks, the post not having been filled up, and to sundry minor changes.
E.—See Statement of New Works.
Hi.—This expenditure is in respect of the cost of a Post Office Annuity purchased for the parents of a young woman who was killed in Kensington Gardens through the fall of a large limb from an elm tree during a high wind.
I.—Increase due mainly to the re-letting of Grazings, &c., in Hampton Court Park and to fresh arrangements in regard to boating licences in various Parks involving additional rents.
The sum of 61. 12s. 6d. being arrears due in respect of sale of rabbits, Richmond Park, has, with Treasury Authority, been written off as irrecoverable.
The Surplus of 8811. 6s. &d., shown on the Account of the Vote "Royal Parks and Pleasure Gardens," for the year ended 31st March 1905, has been surrendered.
