SHORT ADDRESS TO THE PEOPLE OF IRELAND, ON THE SUBJECT OF AN UNION; BY A FREEHOLDER. DIEU ME GARDE DE MES AMIS. Dublin. PRINTED FOR WILLIAM JONES, No. 26, COLLEGE GREEN, OPPOSITE THE COLLEGE. stephers Spaulding men Call, Quaritel 3-26-40 A SHORT ADDRESS, &c. WE are called upon, by the advocates of an Union, to discuss that subject with calmnefs and moderation; and I do confefs it is no more than prudent, in those gentlemen to propose these terms of political combat when the question is, whether or not an independent kingdom fhall be converted into a province. To reconcile us to a measure which fills impartial minds with a croud of difficulties and objections, they dwell, in the first place, on the ftrength of imperial indivifibility, and the weakness of the fœderal system of independent states. |
