AN ACT making an appropriation for the maintenance and operation of the canals.

Became a law March 12, 1924, with the approval of the Governor. Passed, three-fifths being present.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

Section 1. The sum of three hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) is hereby appropriated from any funds in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated. Such sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall become available immediately and shall be expended for the necessary maintenance and operation of the canals.

§ 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

The several amounts named in this act, or so much Appropri thereof as may be necessary, are hereby appropriated from any ation. moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, together with any accrued interest on unexpended balances while in the hands of county treasurers, to be expended in accordance with the provisions of chapter thirty of the laws of nineteen hundred and nine, as amended, being the highway law.

The following amounts to be made im mediately available for the purposes herein indicated: Albany county, two hundred fifty-five thousand, forty-five dollars ($255,045); Essex county, one hundred eight thousand, six hundred thirty-five dollars ($108,635); Greene county, one hundred seventy-two thousand, nine hundred thirty-five dollars ($172.935); Rensselaer county, four hundred twenty-one thousand, five hundred sixty-five dollars ($421,565); Saratoga county, two hundred sixty thousand, two hundred seventy-seven dollars and fifty cents ($260,277.50); Schenectady county, two hundred eighty-two thousand, sixty-five dollars ($282,065); Warren county, one hundred sixty thousand, seven hundred forty-two dollars and fifty cents ($160,742.50); Washington county, one hundred fifty thousand, eight hundred forty dollars ($150,840).
