PUBLISHING

DEPARTMENT.

Special Advantages offered by GALE & POLDEN:

1st. All books are sent POST FREE throughout England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, India, Egypt, or any part of the World.

2nd. The introduction of the Parcels Post, ensuring, as it does, the speedy, safe, and cheap delivery of parcels at even the most remote parts of the World, presents great advantages over the old system, to those who, by distance or other causes, are prevented from paying the Establishment a visit, inasmuch as they are by its means, enabled to share the benefit of doing their Business direct with Brompton Works, though residing at a distance.

3rd.-As we have, by making the Postal Order Trade a special study, succeeded in perfecting, perhaps, the most systematic and satisfactory method known, our Patrons may rely on their orders being executed promptly

and well.

4th.-Books can be sent to customers within two hours of publication, as for example, over 1,000 copies of the Field Exercise were despatched from Brompton Works to various addresses, at home and abroad, within a few hours of being published.

5th.-Old editions of books are never supplied, and when a new edition is coming out, customers are apprised of the fact.

6th.-A liberal discount is allowed to all Canteens, &c., in addition to paying carriage.

By the adoption of the cash system of business, all expenses of collecting accounts, and loss by bad debts are avoided, and ready-money customers are not charged extra to cover losses through defaulters, which must always be the case where credit is given, hence the secret of our liberal terms.

"Young men, on joining their regiments, have all the
temptations in the world to pleasure, none to study;

8. Army Sigalling, Manual of Instruction in 9. Battalion Extending for attack 10. Alphabetical Roll and Descriptive Book. Since we published this Alphabetical Roll and Descriptive Book, we have sold thousands of copies. It is so arranged as to meet the present requirements of the Army. We would recommend Company Officers to try it 11. Battalion Drill Made Easy (illustrated), in accordance with Field_Exercise, 1884. By the Author of " Brigade Drill Made Easy." This work on Battalion Drill is written upon the New Field Exercise. It is the finest work of its kind ever published .. 12. Brigade Drill Made Easy. By Sergeant-Major W. GORDON, 2nd Batt. Scots Guards, Author of Company Extending for Attack"... 1 0 Sergeant-Major GORDON has prepared this useful little work in order to simplify the study of the "Field Exercise," and has been successful in this object. The Book, which is illustrated by several well-executed diagrams, will be a useful companion to the standard manuals on field exercises. Not the least merit of Sergeant-Major GORDON'S volume is its convenient form, and as it has been issued at a reasonable price, it will probably attain, as it certainly deserves, a large circulation. Messrs. Gale & Polden are to be congratulated on the high standard maintained by their Military Series,' of which this handbook is the latest."-Naval and Military Gazette.
