truth, And love goodness, And love thee, our God, And Jesus Christ, our Saviour. We thank thee, O Lord, for the gift of thy Son; Who came to teach us what is true and good, And died that we might live. We thank thee, that when he was on earth, He suffered little children to come to him, And took them in his arms and blessed them. May we be worthy of his blessing; May our souls rest in his arms. May we be gentle and kind; May we be patient and meek; May we love each other with pure hearts; So that our heavenly Father may love us, And

SECOND SERVICE.

The Instructer shall begin with the following Address.

MY dear children, God our Father has preserved us since we last met together; he has been mindful of us, and has blessed us. We can say, How dear

are thy thoughts unto us, O God! how great is the sum of them! If we should count

them, they are more in num. ber than the sand. He feeds us; he clothes us; he gives us friends. He gives us every good and perfect gift. We cannot repay him for all his loving kindness; but he has graciously assured us, that he will accept Our praises and thanksgivings, if we offer them purely and sincerely. Let us join in offering praise to God with

devout affections, and with holy words.

Then shall the Instructer and Pupils repeat the following verses alternately; the Instructer beginning.

Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits!

Who forgiveth all thy sins, and healeth all thine infirmities;

Who saveth thy life from destruction, and crowneth thee with mercy and loving kindness;

Who filleth the morning of thy life with good things, and reneweth thy youth like the eagle's.

He will bless those who fear the Lord, both small and great.

Ye are the blessed of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

And we will praise the Lord from this time forth for

evermore.

Then shall the Instructer say;

NOW let us unite in prayer to the same Almighty Being, And let us re

member that he is a God who heareth prayer, and knoweth all our thoughts, and all the secrets of our hearts. Let us pray to him humbly, and reverently, and sincerely.

1 Up to the throne of God is borne
The voice of praise at early morn,
And he accepts the punctual hymn,
Sung as the light of day grows dim.

2 Nor will he turn his ear aside
From holy offerings at noontide;
Then here reposing let us raise
A song of gratitude and praise.

3. Look up to heaven! the industrious sun
Already half his race hath run;
He cannot halt nor go astray,
But our immortal spirits may.

4 Lord! since his rising in the east,
If we have faltered or transgressed,
Guide, from thy love's abundant source,
What yet remains of this day's course.

5 Help with thy grace, through life's short day,

Our upward and our downward way; And glorify for us the west,

When we shall sink to final rest.

COLLYER.

Departure of Day.

1 ANOTHER fleeting day is gone;
Slow o'er the west the shadows rise;
Swift the soft-stealing hours have flown,
And night's dark mantle veils the skies.
2 Another fleeting day is gone,
Swept from the records of the year;
And still, with each successive sun,
Life's fading visions disappear.

3 Another fleeting day is gone
To join the fugitives before;
And I, when life's employ is done,
Shall sleep, to wake in time no more.

4. Another fleeting day is gone;
But soon a fairer day shall rise,
A day whose never-setting sun
Shall pour his light o'er cloudless skies.

5 Another fleeting day is gone;
I solemn silence rest, my soul!
Bow down before his awful throne
Who bids the morn and evening roll.
